Low Flow Showerheads
|
Shower use and/or bath use accounts for one fifth (1/5)
of an individual's total water use. Most older showerheads
use anywhere from 15 to 30 litres of water per minute or
about 6 GPM. Check the flow rate of your showerhead. A showerhead
with a flow rate of less than 10 litres per minute (approximately
2.0~2.5 GPM) is considered to be water efficient and meets
the requirements of the plumbing code of Ontario.
When your tenants are using less water in the shower or
bath, not only do you save money on your water bill but
you also save on your hydro or gas bill

Low Flow but High Pressure
Don't confuse a high pressure/low-flow showerhead with
a flow restrictor. A low-flow showerhead is designed to
deliver fewer gallons of water per minute but with the same
pressure as a traditional showerhead. Your showers will
be as good as those with your current showerhead. A flow
restrictor, on the other hand, simply cuts back the flow
without compensating for pressure. Quite often, inserting
a flow restrictor cuts down on water use but results in
an unsatisfactory shower.
